So here i am in the trail, going along fine.... jeep locks up pree much and now wont get over 500 rpm. WTF!?!?!?! after much cursing yelling slamming and walking 5 km of trails up hill in the dark in known bear and cougar country, ive decided i want to either do a v8 swap, or de-electrify (no more ecu, tps, map, mat etc etc sensors) my 4.0l

what can i do? just the fact that one small stupid sensor makes me walk home when my old f250 could have dropped 2 cylinders and still got me home and kept me safe really gets to me and is the basis behind my rage in this situation.

 Just thought of this, on my mew 98 when my wife comes to a stop the brakes cut loose for a few seconds before it stops com[pletely. I am new to the ABS on Cherokees so is this an ABS issue ? Can I bypass the ABS if it is ? I did complete rears on it when I got it a month ago. I broke the cable springs on both sides that hold the adjuster on the bottom where that piece rides on the teeth. I rigged an old spring to keep both pieces togather. Could this be a problem. I have never encountered a problem like this before. You all know if you almost come to a stop and all of a sudden the car rolls a few more feet you think wheel cylindar or a popped line but there is no fluid anywhere.

I have a 4.0l out of a 1993 cherokee for sale. Cherokee had 162xxx miles on it, and had a lean on the title for an engine replacement. So, there are unknown miles on the motor, but I doubt it's over 50k with how clean it was.

It's been completely resealed, and has a brand spanking new harmonic balancer.

I rebuilt the head and lapped the valve while I was in the motor. Did not need to replace the rings...the cross-hatching was factory quality, with no scoring.

This is a longblock. no mounts, no manifolds, no accessories. I'm to toss the brackets, mounts, and accessories in if you need them.

for an extra $100 I will give you the complete wiring harness, and stock manifolds for it, with all of the sensors. Currently it has a 2001 intake and aftermarket header on it...I need those for a stroker build.

Reseal included:
valve cover
timing cover
front main
rear main
oil pan
head
new freeze plugs (all of them)f

I have the rest of the gaskets left over as well. you can have them with the motor.

before resealing, the engine had a 30psi idle, 45 psi @2200rpm oil pressure. I saw no reason to replace the pump.

All main and rod bearings were fine, and have been torqued to spec.

I reused the head bolts...they are good for two uses, this was the second use.

Pictures were before I finally installed the oil pan.

used royal purple 10w30 as lubricant during the process for reassembly.

alright so this last Saturday i figured out what was causing my jeep to shudder and shake while in idle in gear, and why there was a noise like metal hitting on itself when accelerating. it was the engine mounts. the passenger side was worn but the drivers side was the worst. the entire mounts rubber was pulled to the front of the engine, and the actual mount of the engine was hitting the metal on the engine mount (the side closest to the driver).
well i replace both and the passengers side went on with out a hitch. the drivers side i got on for now but thats where the problem lay and of course Murphys law states that since the first side went on easy the second couldn't go on the same, i hate karma. the actual engine mount bracket attached to the engine is to far forward and the engine mount attached to the body is to far back thus causing the new mount to look exactly like the old one when installed but it is about 1 cent. away from hitting against itself. the old one when i took it off had direct contact between the two metals. so for now there is no noise. but it worries me this is like this. there appears to be no body damage, or signs of a wreck from the previous owner. so i have no idea why the mount is like this. a buddy of mine said he thought is might be the tranny mount gone bad pushing the engine forward causing it to not line up like that. any one have any ideas? these are original engine mounts i took off so theres no telling how long they were jacked up. but on the engine mount that was bad, you can see where the engine bracket banged an impression of itself into the engine mount. so i am assuming this problem has been here for quite some time with the previous owner.

I am replacing a clutch on 1995 Ford Escort; the car belongs to a friend of mine who lost his job and broke. Anyways, we are deliberating to continue with clutch job because the floors on both sides are rusted through. In this condition the car wont pass PA State inspection. The rails, rocker panels and pretty much everything else are rust free, or the rust is superficial.

The positive side is that the car runs like rabbit and gets fantastic gas mileage (low thirties in stop-and-go, high thirties and low forties on highway). So he loves this car for reason.

My question is if it is possible to weld the floors with reasonable price (I can't weld myself) to pass inspection. Wonder if a muffler shop can do this.

here is the driver's side, you can see the hole where the felt is coming out:
