I'm 62 years young, 63 next February.
Yep, it was back before many in the forum were born possibly.
Here's a pic of the multi-fuel (Diesel) version. Mine was the gasoline version.
20,000 lbs capacity on pavement, 10,000 off-road, 20,000 / 10,000 towing with a full bed load. Able to knock over hardwood trees up to 6" diameter ... if you caught them at a frame horn. 5.75 mpg (gas), auto front axle engagement, 5 speed w/ power take-off and 2 speed transfer case. 30,000 lb axles X 3, 11.00-20 tires. Top speed (governed) 55 mph (mine 67 mph)
Budd
P.S. Just looked it up: The engine was a Continental R6602 ... 602 cubic inches (9.9L) of 210 horsepower. Torque??? In compound low (low t-case, first gear, 6.44 axles) you could put the front bumper against a loading ramp, ease out the clutch at idle and not stall the engine. Ten 11.00-20's just digging holes as they turned . . . . . . .

Did ya ever figure out how to split gears with the T-case?
As long as the T-case gears were spinning so the unsynchro'd gears matched speeds like in an upshift, you could pull it off. So at times you shifted the main trans first (T-case down shift) or main trans after T-case (main trans down shift)
I used my right foot to do shifts from H to L while grabbing the next gear on the main box. Downshifting to slow the rig required double clutching.
I got in trouble for breaking convoy on Ft Carson in 77 for climbing the worst hill on post (Agony Hill) faster than anyone else (@ 20 mph instead of 5), in a higher over all gear (third/low), with one more pallet of 8 " projectiles (Field Artillery) than the other trucks. All I did was what I had taught my drivers in the Dump Truck Platoon, (3rd Herd, 1313th Eng, INARNG). And those hairy legged throttle jockeys could haul . . . . dirt, rock, rip-rap . . . .

Damn Budd, you have done just about everything haven't you?
I think your signature should be, "I can drive anything with wheels, somethings without ."

No.. I don't guess I ever really needed to. The terrain around here (central Oklahoma) is mostly flat with mild hills. First gear trans (high tcase) was sufficient to conquer any real hill. Didn't ever use it to pull recover anyone. I used the big *** rear winch to do all the work.
Worst thing I had to pull was a fully loaded deuce and a water buffalo home over 200 miles. Which doesn't seem bad but at convoy speed it takes 2-3 times as long.
