Obama came out and said, any company that try's to start up using coal power, than the Obama Adm. will bankrupt them. Well, buckle your seat belts W.V. we might as well move out of state once he takes are coal money away. Only 50% of Americans energy is off of coal, so some of you out there might still have electric in the Obama adm.

Yeah I read that. We live in a state that big government's never really cared about, so it's not surprising that a politician would push to mandate actions that would literally cripple our entire population. I guess as long as we cling to our guns and religion, we'll pull through it okay.

I'm at work...no fox here.

What I read was that he said it back in january and what was said, referred to any new plant would go bankrupt trying to meet the emissions standards. Some of which were put into law by bush jr.

The bottom line is, neither candidate has a clear view on coal. Anytime an energy question steers toward coal, the first words out of their mouths are "Clean coal..." It sounds so "green" and is a wonderful way to avoid the subject.

whoops...It was Bush SR. and it was the Clean Air Act which he signed that hurt the industry.

As for the current EPA standards and any new standards they inflict on us...THAT is what will bankrupt any industry in the end. Watching the video, it seems like any normal person could have actually listened to it and figured out he was talking about the sanctions from the EPA and not from him personally.

Damn I dismiss Jon's post of BS and now he is gone. I was really looking forward to his comments about the TRUTH of the statements instead of the typical BS half cocked stories from the repubs.

I know it was from January, and I know what was said. But he doesn't seem to have any qualms about it or intent to revise it. Like I said, he has no clear approach to WV's leading industry, and neither does McCain. The future of coal, and subsequently the future of an entire state's economy, is an uncertain one. The current EPA standards will cripple the industry, and McCain's plans to reduce coal production by 30% will cripple the industry. If "clean coal" has any future at all, it will need to begin in WV, so the R&D and advancements can keep our economy afloat.

Sorry to say for WV...Welcome to Michigan. EPA wants cleaner...Fuel milage higher. Big 3 struggling to get there.

I do blame the big 3 though. All these commercials about LOOK LOOK 30mpg...And my 1986 omni was getting 35mpg back then.

Nothing really has advanced except the emissions...But I am sure with all these filters, it killed the MPG to some degree.

The other side of the coin...Most companies like refineries and coal plants (older ones) are grandfathered in to old emissions standards and have been for years and years. They have had time to update the systems and didn't. That comes from resting on your huge profits instead of investing in the future.

I had heard a stat a few years ago...No new oil refinery had been built in 20 or 25 years. Why..because the emission standards were too high to build and profit from it. Thus the old plants are rebuilt to just enough to stay below the EPA rules/laws.

Just keeping you on your toes bouncy, It's something the dems are pushing I don't care who's name is on it.Obama is saying Coal which is 50% of are electric, is a thing of the past so get your candles out bouncy that computer won't do you anygood without electric. Once he is in office and the Dems have nothing to stop them then the enviromental wacko's will knock us back to the stone age.

Well to be fair mccain has also mentioned "clean coal" a number of times, so I wouldnt say only the dems are pushing it.

Jon..You really don't read my posts very well...Or you can't remember. I am within 10 MILES of a nuclear power plant.

We have the 10-15ft cat fish with 40 eyes swimming around in the water.

But hey...nukes are SAFE...Yeah right

So I will continue to post as long as the drinking water glows.

It's simple..Don't eat the catfish and drink beer insted of water,it's not cheaper but it definitly taste better lol...All joking a side...I believe in Nuclear energy and it is America’s largest source of clean-air, carbon-free electricity, producing no greenhouse gases or air pollutants.The problem with nuclear is the rules and guidelines that they follow are all screwed up,a lot of them have been fixed over time but many still remain.The government and the US Department of Energy needs to put stricter guidelines for the plants to follow.This shouldn't be a blame game of who caused it or anything because each and every party has a part in this matter.
