That would have been an extremely slow day for our department. We averaged 7 EMS calls and 3 fire calls per day.

Wish we had the same situation, but we had to do both. We got pretty tired after a 24 hour shift.

We covered a substantial portion. In fact, most of it. Our down town station was Station 1 for the area. We had 5 other towns we coordinated. Our EMS covered them also, although they would respond when requested for manpower. However, we had the only ambulances. There was another town that had the same set up and covered the other half of the county

Out here the brush trucks for the state forest service were a joke. They would put out the brush but couldn't enter a burning building, so they would manage to save the foundation.

But now, they have evolved into a full fledged fire service with some brush rigs of course, but you can put them right beside the city guys now and all they lack is the ladder trucks.

I was off today but I always carry my radio with me. There was a wreck that happened right behind me and i call it in and when the police arrived the were like "radio the vehicles are blocking the highway" I was like didn't I just say that. Half the police around here don't have a clue. Typical day

I was reminded a little while ago that when I went muddin in OR, land of the temperate rain forest and cover the Jeep with mud, I would just drive it to work and hook up an inch and a half to the hydrant and let the car wash commence.
