new JK's...anyone got one?
So, my wife and I went and drove by the Jeep dealership and ran across the new JK Unlimited with the Mountain Package which is upgraded suspension, wheels/tires, some different badging and colors, and some new seats. The Jeep looks awesome...and it's time for me to trade in my car, so just wondering if anyone has a JK and if they have seen anyone issues with the automatic transmissions? My wife prefers an auto, but will drive a stick if it will be more reliable in the long run...
All I've ever owned in Jeeps has been auto's in my Cherokees and Grand Cherokees with the I6. This V6 in the JK is a proven engine, so not too worried about that, but knowing the issues Chrysler has had in the past with some of the truck transmissions, just wondering....
Any other good/bad experiences with JK's is helpful too. Might be selling my '93 XJ as well because I have 4 vehicles in my driveway and something has to go...we both commute a lot and have to take out customers and such on occassion, so the old XJ isn't a practical work car...just a toy that's taking up space right now. If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM and I can let you know details on the XJ....haven't set a price or even listed it yet, but will entertain further communication if someone wants a project...

One of my wheeling buddies has a JK. It does well offroad, but ti is long, and that limits where he can get in and out of sometimes due to the breakover angle.
THe minivan engine in his does the job, but it will probably leave yo wanting a little more power. He hasn't had any problems mechanically though, and it get used more then most of the pavement pounders out there. Oh, and he has the auto as well.
A couple of other guys I sometimes wheel with also have JK's. Lots of room for bigger rubber with minor lift heights. I think a 4" will give plenty of room for 35's....

I had to pull a JK Rubicon out a few weeks ago, right after I walked through the same hole. No pics to prove it tho The guy driving it made the same comment about the minivan motor. He was always wanting a little bit more power out of it. Overall it did pretty well throughout the day. I think he was only hung up the one time.

Well...I won't be leaving it stock forever. And I've seen some of the diesel swaps on the new JK's...that could always be a possibility after it's no longer a daily driver...
Will rack up some miles on it first and commute in it some...when I pay it off, we'll turn it into a full fledged toy and buy something new to commute to work in...

Awesome. Good luck with everything. And I hope you don't wait until it's paid off to have some fun with it!

The girlfriend's dad got one about 5 or 6 weeks ago. It's actually really nice. He got a brand spankin' new 2010 Sahara. It's black on black, leather interior (yes, leather!), navigation, blue tooth, Freedom top, second set of soft doors and full soft top, all the bells and whistles.
It's quite comfortable, really spacious, but the engine does leave a bit to be desired. It does go through gas faster than my DD XJ.
The best part about it is that I'm one step closer to adding a YJ to my stable

One of my associates just got a WK2. I got to take an up close look and was not impressed.
