Default Random Things You Hate or Strongly Dislike !

Although hate is a strong word I find myself saying it at least a couple times a day. Anybody else have some hate to waste?

That's the jeep disease doing it's thing.

I really hate the fact that I get full. Sometimes I'm eating something that's SO good, like sushi, and then get full and can't eat anymore. It just sucks.

This asinine ersatz "security" we've been saddled with.

I had to go to the Federal building downtown for a hearing. Had on my hurtin' shoes, stripped down my wallet and keyring, wore no belt.

Took off everything metal but my ring - and the damned metal detector still went off (no surprise - I set off magnetometers raw naked, and I can influence compasses slightly.) I asked them to get the wand - they made me walk back and forth through the damned thing - shoes and everything else off, three or four times before they got the wand.

No, I don't have any metal in my body (it's all been removed.) I'm just that way. I can't wear digital watches, either. Electrical stimulation on me has to be at stupid levels before I can feel it. (My wife can feel the effects of a TENS unit down around level 1. I start up around level 4 before I can feel anything at all.)

Between that, and the fact that they probably have the damned things cranked up so high that they go "ding" off of the iron in your blood, it's damned tedious.

And I actually told one of the yoyos manning the door to take his hand off of his sidearm before someone got hurt. I've been shot before - I'm not impressed (and I know how to strip a Glock down to its component parts in short order - I used to own one, and they all follow the same pattern.)

I wanted to be rather more vocal in my dissatisfaction, but my wife was with me and trying to calm me (I don't fly anymore for much the same reason.

(If all this silly "security" crappola is supposed to be "for our safety," why don't I feel any safer?)

When it's 11:30 at night and the damn dog has to go unload, and then I get outside and realize that it's not summer anymore and that 40* nights are bringing the suck.

When I go to the gas station and the pumps are blocked by some one inside buying lottory tickets or anything but gas. When there is a lot of parking all around the station and I have to wait for them to move their damn car so I can get gas.

Seeing all these people with handicap tags parked in handicap spaces that walk just fine all over the store or mall when I have to find a place to get my mother out in a wheel chair. I'm sorry if you can walk just fine you don't need a handicap space. I always thought they were for people with wheel chairs or people with walkers that need the room to be able to get out of their vehicle. Not for over weight or lazy people. I can complain because I'm a disabled veteran but I refuse to get a tag, because I'm able to walk some.

People that drive and text, how stupid can you be.

The handicap problem is that people, usually family members, use the handicapped person's car though they, themselves, are not handicapped and "they're only going to be in there a minute . . . . ." They don't realize they are breaking the law and using the placard illegally.

And, to be honest, if you saw me in a store, you'd wonder about my conditions ... legally, I'm handicapped (the heart attacks and Diabetes), but I don't use the placard / plate and I don't park in handicap spaces anymore.

Also, not all handicaps are such that it affects your walking. Think of the young lady in AZ, iirc, that recently got her pilot's license and was born without hands.

40* nights? Love 'em - when it's cold, I don't hurt! I find cold environs energising, always have (probably why I enjoyed being stationed at McMurdo. Twice.)

Handicaps are odd things. My principal problem is osteoarthritis in my low back and neck (L4/L5 and L5/S1, probably due to an exacerbation of an old injury there recently. C2/C3, C3/C4, C4/C5, C5/C6 primarily due to recent Fx in C2 and C5.) Throw in extensive facial Fx, and old rebuild of the right shoulder (GSW,) an old pelvic Fx, and the fact that my knees can be terribly unco-operative, and there are days where I hobble around on a cane (and other days where I just flat can't get out of bed, except to go take a leak. And even that bloody hurts!)

I have a TENS unit at home (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) that works by "confusing" the pain receptors using electrical signals. I have lidocaine patches (and I typically use the TENS then apply the lidocaine - makes the lidocaine work better.) I have a phenomenal resistance to oral narcotic painkillers.

And yet my mother-in-law, with her emphysema, got the disabled ticket without any trouble at all (and I'm still fighting a disability case. I've left out the various neurological effects, or the crushing headache I've had for the last two years.)

And she gets bent at me when I tell here there are people who need those spots more than she does - like someone who is shy a leg. Even on days when I'm leaning on a stick myself (I gotta get a new cane tho - the traditional "curved" handle is wearing a hold in my right hand. Gotta find a Fritz or a Derby handle in solid wood or fibreglas - I'm a big guy, and I also use my cane in self-defense from time to time. Those "collapsible, adjustable" jobs would just end up wrapped around some kid's head... And most of them aren't rated to prop me up anyhow.)

My answer is usually something along the lines of "Deal." And, we've come out just often enough to see someone getting out in a wheelchair to justify my response - QED.

Yes, there are various "levels" of disability. I'm still finding out what some of my disabilities are (currently undergoing neuropsychological testing, in fact.) I've got a 1" binder that is the summary of my medical records for the past four years, and I need to condense it a bit more (write a precis to stick in the front, and archive everything else.)

But, for the moment, I'll enjoy the fact that TENS has finally gotten my low back to quit hurting (only took an hour and a half, probably last until I get to bed) and feel it working on my right knee.

For those of you with chronic pain, if you see a pain management specialist, I feel that the TENS is highly recommended! It also amplifies the effect of topical lidocaine without worrying about drug interactions - the TENS "confuses" the pain receptors, and the lidocaine "knocks the little bastards out" for a while. It's so much easier to knock someone out when they're already reeling...

Let's see - another pisser-offer? How about when some jackass doesn't realise why there are arrows painted on the pavement, and comes down the wrong way?

Here's an even better one - years ago (before I got married,) I was taking the bus all around. Downtown was the usual transfer point, you could connect with about two dozen local routes, you could connect to get to Fremont BART, you could connect to the Highway 17 Express (Santa Cruz,) hook up with CalTrain, Amtrak, or even Santa Clara County Light Rail.

First Street is one-way going north, second street is one-way going south. Two lanes each, with a separated lane for the LRV.

Some jackass decided to turn to go south on First street - down the LRV tracks! The LRV was coming the other way, and had to stop for this fool.

D***head then decided to blow his horn at the train to get it to move! Wait... what?

I was so amused when SCCSD deputies came to hook him up (I don't know what they ultimately charged him with - felony idiocy, perhaps?) and towed his car! Funny as all get out to me.

I know it cost him a damned fortune to get his car back out of hock. Probably more than the wretched thing was worth!

The beginning of the incident was un beau de pisser-offer, but the resolution was quite amusing. It's just a pity that people who are that damned stupid are allowed to live...

They are the ones that should know better, but I see it a lot.

I have a bad leg and use a cain a lot but I figure if I'm going in some place were I'm going to walk around for a hour I can park a few more spaces down.
I know some people have trouble walking or get out of breath easy you can tell. But the ones that walk faster then me or my wife who has bad knees and we don't walk real slow, it just don't figure.
I also have a bad neck with 5 bad disc's can't hardly turn my head half the time even makes my right arm and shoulder hurt, bad lung from chemicals I used while in the army, VA doctor says I have fibromyalgia. Take all kinds of pain med's, but I hate to. I also have a tens unit.

Al Udeid Air Force Base in Qatar... why we Navy folk deploy to this ****box I have no idea.

I also hate the fact that I obliterated my front end two days before deployment, and now that I have enough money saved to have my roomie take it to my buddy's shop to get some work done, the ****er keeps 'forgetting to get around to it'. I head Stateside in three weeks and all I have for working transportation is a motorcycle. In western Washington. In November.

When the wife insist on going out to eat but doesn't know where she wants to go making me make a decision, every time rejecting my thought not ever realizing I would eat cardboard with ketchup if it would get me out of this stupid damn conversation. I hate that.
