Weekend of Wheeling
So this weekend my club held its big annual club ride on a club member's property somewhere in New York (due to his personal request of keeping his property on the down-low, he'd prefer us to not say where it is).
Here's a link to the whole album, and a few teasers for those that don't want to look through it all. The pictures really don't do this property justice. The ledges are pretty crazy, the drops are steep, the rocks are big, the mud is minimal, and the hill climbs push your pucker-factor.
The XJ did AWESOME, and I'm at the point where I have a good idea of what I want to do with it next. The body got even more beat up this weekend, but mechanically it seems to be doing well.
LINK to all the pictures: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...0&l=f9c4f60fcf
An early hill climb:
Lighting them up to get them to stick. The ledge is as tall as my headlights:
Finally got the ledge that has denied me three years in a row, took a ton of skinny pedal but I got it:
Another busted taillight, story of my life:
Had the pleasure of wheeling with Zach, owner of A to Z Fabrication out of Pennsylvania. His rig is awesome, and he is an AWESOME vendor. I highly recommend him to whoever is looking for parts, he can get pretty much anything.

Hmmm... the pics aren't mine, I didn't take a camera this year as I was riding solo. I was able to access that person's album through a link that they posted on my club's forum. I'll see if I can fix it.
It was a total blast, it was only the second time I got out this year, and possibly the last. I'm so bummed about the lack of wheeling in 2010 for me

You and me both. I think I only went wheeling twice all summer.
Jeep's looking good though Dave.

Thanks Quinn!
As for what's next, it really all depends on funding We all know how hard that can be.
Ideally I'd love to upgrade at a minimum the front D30 to the Waggy 44 I have sitting in my shed collecting dust. If I do this, the axles would get 4.56's or 4.88's.
I'd also like to cage out the rig, and maybe in the future chop the top off.
Waaay down the road I'd like to be on 60's, Long-armed, caged, and upgraded tcase (either Atlas, D300, or an NP241).
It's too hard to tell right now, I'm trying to save up as much money as I can because I'd like to buy a house in the next year or two. When it winds down to it, the rig works so well the way it is, that I'm actually not in much of a hurry to go nuts. If all I get done with it in 2011 is a full cage and new joints on the control arms I'll be happy.

looking at the teasers, it would be a shame if that land wasnt owned by a wheeler, looks like some good wheeling

The land is owned by a Wheeler. Out of respect for him and his requests he prefers us to not disclose where it is.

Cool pictures. Looks like you could use a set of rear Upper Quater Panel Guards.

I couldn't see the whole album either, but your pics looked like you had a great place to do 50% of your 2010 wheeling.

Thanks guys! I really have to get on my game and figure out a way to get the pictures up, maybe one night this week.
As for the rear upper quarters - I'm definitely going to be doing something about it. I'm most likely going to get the guards with the build in taillights so that I can kill two birds with one stone. I've lost count of how many taillights have fallen victim to wheeling - too many.
