Do you want to mount them directly to the rack or use a bar?

what i was thinking is on the bottom of the very front of the rack is weld some tabs and drill holes through that and mount them that way

Only problem with that is you then have rogue wires chilling on your roof if you ever decide to pull your rack off. Why not a low-profile bar of some kind?

Why wouldn't he have the same thing if he decides to pull the low profile bar?

well what i was going to do with the wires is drill through the pipe on the rack and run all my wires through there and then take the wires through my roof, but whats a low profile bar look like? i dont think iv ever seen one

There not much different than the stock roof rack bars. Just attached farther forward on the XJ. Either if they are to a low profile bar or a roof rack, you still have to run wires to them. So IMO there is no difference. I can see with what CT99XJ is stating if your have short roof rack, you'd need a bar so that the lights are mount just behind the windshield.

ya i understand that and mine is short its only 3 feet long and its set all the way to the back but i would think itd look weird if theres a few feet inbetween the rack and the lights so i was just looking to put them on the rack.

Don't know if this counts as a "low profile bar" or not. Its a Carr roof light bar. I like it, worth my money. Its a nice place to mount em, closer to the front of the Jeep. Its got a bunch of other mounts not just fer lights. I've got one of my CB antennas mounted on the side hole. The bar clamos right to the rain gutter.

I have the same bar, but with Hella not-so-low-profile 500's on it.
