I had the same problem only I also had the CEL on and a code P1694.
Check the crank position sensor. Use an ohmmeter to test for continuity between any 2 pins. There should not be any continuity. If there is, replace it.
Hope this helps.

It could be a few things. ASD relay, ignition issues although rare, fuel pump relay, cam sensor, cps, and your coil pack that is on the side....mind you those coil packs are over $100 at the autoparts store.

I could be your computer too. Are there any codes at all or anything else out of the ordinary?

Are you getting spark to your cylinders? Could be a coil too, that is not uncommon for a coil to take a dive, do you smell gas in the throttle body after cranking?

NO gas smell, just unplugged cps sensor, checked with ohm meter, there should be no continuity on any of the terminals,is this correct,, mine has continuity on it,,. Haven't got to the coil yet..CEL is on also,,,,so hopefully its just the CPS,, Thanks for all the help....

It could mean the computer is bad OR it could mean that you have a bad connection somewhere in you electrical system or bad battery. Check your battery first, then go through and make sure your battery connections and stuff are all good. Then I would suspect you computer.........XJ computers very rarely go bad FYI

Try disconnecting the harness from the computer and clean the contacts and re-connect. If there is any error codes, they must be cleared.
