2000 XJ Rough Starts/Stalling
Hey guys, for the record, I honestly did try my best to find the answer before posting a thread, but here goes nothing.
I have a 2000 XJ. When I start it, it struggles to stay on, sputters, and occasionally stalls out. HOWEVER, if i give it some gas and rev it to like 1500 rpm, it runs 100%. Additionally, once, it is running, it runs 100%. It never stalls in traffic, never sputters when turning, never sputters EXCEPT right when i start it. I have to give the engine gas everytime, or it will probably sputter.
The RPMs drop to like 250. If i floor the gas, it starts up like a car in 4th gear. Extremely slow, but then around 15-20 mph, power kicks in, and it runs like absolutely nothing was different. It does this in cold and hot and moderate weather. Has been doing it for a long time. Have had it for 3-4 years, never replaced spark plugs or fuel injectors (as far as i know).
I have no idea about anything that has to do with cars (or jeeps) when it comes to engines. Suspensions and wiring, I can handle, but for everything else, pops takes it to the mechanic. I tried to give you guys as much info as possible. Any questions, post them up, and i will answer them soon. BTW, fresh battery, fresh oil, fresh serpentine belt, run 87 unleaded all the time, just ran through one tank of gas after a bottle of techron, but no difference. 57k miles. THANKS GUYS!!!
