Hi, I was told by the previous owner of my newley aquired '96 xj that the engine will cut out while driving. Of course I figured it whould never happen to me and the previous owner did noy know what she was talking about. Well it happened twice tonight. Does anyone know what might be the problem?
my 89 does the same thing, and idk what the hell it is, but it drives me nuts, and its an automatic but cuts out like your stalling a stick, it really sucks. someone told me it might be the fuel pump but idk, i was thinking that or a clogged injector, but once it cuts out, does yours start right back up?
Check the C-101 connector above the brake booster. This connects the wires from the engine bay to the inside. This was a common problem for the 87's and 88's for a dead XJ. (Information from JP Mag. Jan 2010)
