Default front drive shaft info

I'M SO CONFUSED can't figure out what I have as far as transfer and trany so I can order a front drive shaft, it was missing when I bought the jeep.
The vin # 1j4gz58s9vc647083, 6cyl with auto trans.

The Tranny is an AW4. As far as the tranfer case goes there are a coulple different ones, the NP242 and NP231. What options of "4wd" do you have? Should be something like, 2H - 4H - N - 4L for the NP231, or 2WD - 4part-time - 4full-time - N - 4LO for the NP242. Hope that helps.

Instead of ordering one from the stealership (don't know if they'd even carry them still), your best bet would be to get one from a junkyard. It'd be much cheaper. You should also check out Ebay as that's where I found mine.

I think the front DS was the same in all XJ's regardless of transfercase, but that may be very inaccurate. There is of course the HP vs LP D30, NP231 vs NP242 that could cause differences, but I've never heard of any.

find a driveline shop close to home and have one built (might be around $300.00) or as said above junk yard, ebay, craigslist, or CT and naxja classifieds
