replaced:

coil pack
plugs (now I run NGK plugs)
injectors (ford mustang)

I also wrapped the injectors with heat shield tape.

The weird thing about it is it would misfire after long drives BUT it rarely ever throws a code now. It used to throw codes every time it misfired.

Did you ever replace your plug wires? even though they may look fine on the outside, they can still be jacked up inside.

requires a little bit of modding but have yall tried running a switch to yalls factory electric fan so you can turn it on with the vehicle stopped and there for keeping the the fuel from vaporizing

I did have a clutch fan and an electric fan. But then i took off the clutch fan and replaced it with another elec. fan. Apparently the fan was not mounted as well as it needed to be and during some rough trail run... it was destroyed.

I have no idea what courses you have run to try to eliminate your misfire, so forgive me if I'm beating a dead horse here. Our beloved 4.0 prefers Champion plugs, that's verbatim from my local and trusted Jeep dealer. Maybe try a new set of them?

Mud, why the Ford Mustang fuel injector's? The 4l injector's are multiport and can be purchased at any pressure rate. What's the appeal?

Stock 4.0 injectors are only single port.

I can scan the box and order invoice I have to show you. The 1996 XJ 4.0L High-Output, should have a "raised plastic badge" on lower left side of rear lift gate that says 4.O Litre (on top) with High Output (below it). I have a full set of these injectors to install once it warms-up a little and once I locate an American made 2002 4.0L intake system. The injectors came from GB Remanufacturing, Inc in Long Beach, CA and weren't the least expensive of the injectors located out there. GB Part number is 812-11128 they are multi-port and metered to fire the same amount of fuel to each cylinder. Google GB Manufacturing. and take it from there. them, they have an active online tech line that can confirm. I called them to verify once I had them in my possession....a little late had they hadn't been multi-port. That's all I know. BTW...anyone out there know where I can find the 2002 intake that I am replacing my 1996 intake with??

I had a friend that had a 92xj and he had similar issues, he replaced injectors and a few other parts and finally found the flywheel cracked it would be worth a look even if that wasn't the problem.
