No Coolant Flow!?
i am working on the cooling system in my jeep and have found out there is no coolant flowing through the lines! i replaced the high pressure coolant bottle, lines from heater core to block (sending and return) thermostat, and water pump, i also did a complete coolant flush, and it seemed to be working when i did that before i even replaced anything, im baffled, why is nothing flowing! it just overheats! any advice?

You did make sure you got the reverse rotation pump didn't you??
The XJ 4.0L pulley rides in the backside of the serpentine belt, so the pump on the XJ's runs backwards in comparison to the standard V-belt 4.0L's in some of the Wranglers....
If you got the wrong pump, it won't flow.....
What store did you get the pump from?

Could be, you need to check to make sure you got the right direction. Also you may have gotten a bad pump or there could be an installation error.

Try replacing the thermostat again, could be defective. Might be stuck closed and not alllowing it to open.
As it warms see if the upper hose gets warm, that'll tell you if you have no flow to the rad.

The heater core is for the heater, so if you bypass it, you just won't have heat!

I found the same issue with my 88 that I got for free (yay). It was overheating bad so I replaced tstat, yada yada. what I found, and others oten disagree, is that you MUST burp the system. the best way is to take the top radiator hose off from the tstat housing and fill radiator through that hose then fill block through tstat housing. then fill pressure bottle and continue as usual. This worked wonders on my toy. A lot of guys keep saying " you dont have to burp it" but as soon as I did I could see the water flowing back into the pressure bottle when I couldnt before.
Take it or leave it, just some advice.

I had to burp mine when I flushed last year (its due again). Without the burp, their is an air bubble trapped under the t-stat. With the air bubble in place, the t-stat won't open, so it overheats....

"I had to burp mine when I flushed last year (its due again)."
How do you guys flush the system????? I have the Prestone Flush N Fill Kit" plastic "T" installed in the correct hose and from there lost because I do not have a "radiator cap".
The directions call for attaching garden hose to the plastic "T" and then opening up the radiator cap and put on the "splash tube" (for the exiting water).
So...suggestions??????

You have a closed coolant system. Same concept...just remove the cap on the coolant bottle.
