Nope.. not a myth at all...
The higher detergent properties in synthetic oils clean out the deposits and crud left over from running dino oils. So if there was a leak that was clogged with those deposits you will get a leak as those deposits are cleaned out.
BTW.. I run cheapo farm store 20w-50 and a Purolator filter. My Jeep leaks oil WAY too badly to run my own oil in it.

I run Castrol GTX High Mileage 10w-30 with a oversized WIX filter for better filtration.
I did however try Mobile 1 Fully Synthetic oil one time for about 1 day. But my oil pressure guage went off the scale (literatly). As in WAY to much pressure. I then changed back to coventional oil and have had no problems since.
Any of you guys ever hear of something like this?

Castrol GTX and Fram filter.
Every other filter I have tried leaks - every friggen one! I have heard bad things about Fram filters, but have never had any issues and have run them in all my vehicles for the past 30 years.
I change my oil about every 1000 miles or so as I spend a lot of time crawling at a low rpm with high engine temps, so the oil breaks down quickly.
I use Royal Purple in my diffs and tranny and regular ATF in the t-case. Diffs, tranny and t-case fluids get changed every spring.

Low rpms = slower transfer of oil through the system, mixed with the high temperatures of off-roading due to the decreased air flow, causes the oil to burn up much faster than with regular driving.

Cause he is running a fram filter. Actually needs changed that often.
run a fram for a full oil change, watch your oil pressure. Run a bosch (get the good one like i did) and run it the same way. Almost 10 lbs pressure boost instantly, and it stays the whole oil change.
Bosch Filter, Castrol Synth Blend.
been hearing good things about Royal purple though, any one besides seth run it on here?

I do this too (every 1000). I hardly get 2000 miles a year so i change it every 1000, or 6 months.

Well that makes sense, my rule of thumb is every 3000miles/6months.

For my last oil change I have a Fram oversized filter and Napa 10W-30. Haven't had any problems with the Fram.

Mobile 1 Synthetic, 5W-30 in the winter 10W-30 in the warmer months.
Wix Filter.
I switched to synthetic at 25,000 miles, when I first bought the XJ, so I noticed no oil leaks back then.

Mobile 1 Synthetic with Mobile 1 filter every 7,500 miles. I bought it with 6,500 miles and went right to synthetic. I have a small leak at the front of my oil pan. It started about a year ago.
