Mopar filter, and either Pennsoil Platinum 10w30 or RotellaT syn 5w40.

i just head on down to shcucks (o'reilly) and pick up there house brand 5w-30 in 5 quart jugs (usually get a cupl of singles as refills and backups) and the best fram filters they carry, i find it pretty easy to change my oil every 3k in my jeep, 5k in the ford ranger (its fairly new, low milage, and is a highway vehicle) and i replace the filters every other oil change, i just rinse them out in a small tub with a quart of 58cent oil, which to be honest is the only stuff i wont run in my vehicles, as 89 jeep said oil is oil, if its conventional they all run basically the same base stock with minor changes in the additives, i should know i got certified by valvoline a while back as an oil specialist

wait, oas, why are you running such (fairly)high-end product? both of those oils are really only good for an xj between ~25k-<100k miles after that the house brand is actually better both for performace and fuel economy, and its less likely to wear your seals

PP or RTS "high end product"?

Not what i consider high end.
RoyalPurple, Redline, or Amsoil is what i consider high end.
PP and RTS are easily available at Wally's, not too terribly costly, and are good if you do extended drains.
Econo oils are o.k., but i want this ride to last.
Oil is cheap insurance in the long run.
Unless you enjoy rebuilding........
