Not to beat a dead horse, have you rechecked the
components,(ie,fuel pump,reg.,cps,distributor,)that you've
already replaced once.
I trashed a new fuel pump in a week cause the
tank was full of rust and crap.
If all else fails,I'd see if someone on the board has a
good ecm you can borrow.
I have one,but it's for an '88 renix.Won't help.

Well I doubt if anyone would borrow me a ECM for awhile to see if it fixes my problem. It flkat out died on me yesturday and could not get it to run. I was talking to an old man who was walking bye and he said his wife had the same problem with a Maxima and it would just die. When he got there to help her it would start right up. He said the shorting of a electric fan relay to cool the car down was bad and would cause the car to die. So we tried it on mine and dicsonnected the fan because it never ACTUALLY works when the car runs but I can make the fan run. Anyways..... Turned over 2 times and died and on the third fired up . SOOOOOOO is the electric fan part of the ignition, if it is that is why I am getting my p1391.

If heat is shutting it down it is a good thing I wired the electric fan into fuse box so when Trooper is running so is the fan.

When my started acting up and quitting I replaced the coil pack and the problem went away. I know its very hard fixing intermingling problem and it get expensive to just throw parts and not fix anything. When it quits try to check for ignition spark.

Hi, my friends had the same problem (bought used 2004 TJ), random missfire with code, we check/replace everything, check the injector, crank sensor, compression test, lift the valve cover to see if every pushrod/rockers were ok, etc... yadi yada
Finally turn the jeep to the dealer under warranty, dealer find nothing, replace the whole block. After inspecting the old block they discover a cam lob that was really in a bad chape, leading to say that the block at one time didn't have enough oil.

Hope this help

Have you checked the crankshaft sensor on the fly wheel?

I agree with freu but would also look in to excessive play in the timing chain. Had the same thing happen on a buick years ago. Good luck.

I agree with Lyon, if the new CPS didn't do the trick, look into the timing chain.
Good luck.

Similar issues or same issues? Because the remedy can be very different. If it's just a misfire under heavy load it can be as simple as a closed gap on a spark plug to a bad timing chain or valve. We'll need a brief explanation of all the syptoms you have and when.

BTW, Welcome to the forum!

Also need info on your Jeep. There is none in your profile set up. Year, motor ect.

If it's newer, could be a problem with the TPS. You said no codes right? Oh wait you didn't say yes or no on that. If there is a check engine light, have it scanned. If it's not, it's time to start eliminating possibilities.
I personally hate Champion plugs but some people love them. I worked on cars for 6 years and I stopped using them within the 1st few months. I had lots of problems with them. Obviously misfires. I find that they should be used for their original purpose. A lawnmower.

You mentioned it on the downshift?? Nothing on the upshift? Because I think the original post was for a misfire if I'm not mistaken.
