Will the transmission from an 89 2wd 4.0 Laredo fit into an 89 4wd? I'm assuming the tailpiece will have to be removed to allow the tranfer case to bolt on.

????

if im not mistaken the tail peice is not removable ... its a diff transmission between the 2wd and 4wd on the xjs

Same trans, along with the tail housing, the output shaft has to be changed. This requires disassemble of the entire transmission.
