transmission not shifting into 2nd

Ok, I have a 1995 Cherokee Sport 6cyl auto 4wd. Now for some reason the transmission will not shift into 2nd. It seems to skip over 2nd completly when in drive. I tried putting it in 1-2 and it only will go in 1st and not shift. I'll bump it into 3rd and it goes right in and even into 4th when bumped into drive. It even does this when I have the trans module unpluged. The fluid level is ok and it doesn't smell burnt. It's alittle dirty and needs changed but has a nice light brown color to it. I'm thinking it has something to do with the pressure plate for 2nd gear. But I'm just getting to know this transmission and how it works. I replaced the tps. and adjusted the throttle valve cable with no use. I'm going to check the solenoids ohms tomorrow but I'm thinking it's something else. Any ideas???

you mean the trans control module?? I'm not sure. I think it's that or one of the solenoids. is there a way to test either the control module or the solenoids with out droping the pan??
