We need a lot more info on your rig. How much lift? Long arm or short arm? Stock steering? What kind and size of tire? what kind of wheels?

There are a few items to check,

-Tires out of balance
-Check for worn components (i.e. control arm bushings, track bar joint play, steering component slop, steering stabilizer, and shocks)
-When everything above is good, have a full alignment done.

Other than the sway bar breaking, or the drop links going bad, what can go with a sway bar that would cause you to change it?

Only reason I say to change both is b/c my neighbor/mechanic suggested it to me. And we change parts over a 12 pack so there's no up selling or anything. He's SAE Blah blah. 25 years biz. To me he's my neighbor. He said while we were in there changing the 1 part may as well do the other cuz i'd dealing w it a few months later (depending on mile of course). I got that DEATH RATTLE. About 60-65. As soon as I was half way thru my problem he interrupts. Sway bar. And while ur in there do the drag link, it'll save u later. You may have other issues but the DEATH RATTLE sounded spot on to my problem and this is how we fixed it

Any chance it was track bar, not sway bar?

OK, that makes sense. Slop in the track bar and steering is usually the issue. The Grand Cherokee have a couple more adjustments as far as the alignment goes. definitely worth getting it professionally aligned after you have eliminated any and all worn components.

DEATH RATTLE caught my eye cuz that's what I called it when it happened to me a few times (as in pulled over a few times thinking wtf). Had no idea it had happened to others. Thot it was gonna shake me into next year. Looking back at my scratched notes it WAS at 45-55 using a smooth road and then a simple bump sent sent us rattling when it happened. At different speeds on different roads it tried to go into its death spiral but I would touch brakes and quick steer back and forth with very minute left and right steering trying to correct. Just got this app today. Had no idea its was out there. Thanks for info.
