How much $ do you have in your xj
Well I got an offer on my XJ finally, the guy wants to come look at her this weekend...after some in depth arguing with the wife she proved to me how horrible I was at argueing when she wrote out on paper how much we had into my xj and how much i was selling it for.....lol....i never though about it like that, just listed a price I thought was reasonable...so take a few seconds to try and write out how much you have into your xj from buying it until now, even down to the small stuff like i figure 150 bucks on just sensors over a year, you will be surprised.....I was! You think you know what you have into it but 20 or 40 here and there adds up quick!
was selling for $4000.00
after wife's calculations we have $4,970.00 into the rig.that is including buying it for $1400

I bought mine for $10k and put roughly $5-6k into it already but alot of the mods are come and go mods that are used for a short time and sold off for new, better mods LOL.
Keep in mind, modifications can't be used to up the price of a used vehicle.

2001 xj
I paid about $4,500 for my 2001 XJ with just over 113,000 miles or so on it.
I did add everything up on it just a few weeks ago after I stashed all of my receipts in one folder lol.
Total invested into my jeep without the added cost for buying the jeep is around $23,000 for a grand total of around $27,500. This was all in the last 3 months or so since I bought it around June of this year.
I had it professionally appraised for $19,230 by a guy who appraises show cars.

I understand mods can't be used to up the price on most things, but I feel a new engine and suspension....the price can definatly be slightly increased

too much.
I paid more in mods then I did the jeep.
I paid $2800 for mine 3-4 years ago with 117K on it
without taking into account of parts I have sold and will sell I have $4558 extra into it. mine still Blue Books for around $3000 without mods.
so roughly $7600 give and take I would probably have a hard time getting $5000 back for it if I were to sell it. selling a modded jeep is a ass kicking.
so good luck to anyone selling theirs haha.

I personally don't take a new motor into higher regards when I am buying a vehicle. If they are the right mods and not a junkyard hobble job, I might add some as well. But I always start near what Blue Book is unless its a lot more rare then an XJ or something close. Receipts don't mean to much to me because parts can be old and used even when bought the first time.
I have seen rigs more well built then mine go for a lot less even in great shape.

Not enough but still more than what I would like. LOL
I paid
$1300 for the jeep
$450 for the lift
$360 for the wheels
$100 for stock skids and tow hook brackets
Plus a few other minor things so just under $2300
and this is what I have so far

Too much and more to come.
I paid $1600 for mine, but it only had about 35,000 actual miles on it. The rest were towing miles behind a motor home. I was going to keep it fairly stock and use as a daily driver. The smog police declared that I had to crush it. So I started moding it and haven't stopped yet. When done, it will be the ultimate beast on full width axles and 38s.
Once starting mods like this, it will never get sold.

That is one reason why I would never live in Cali, I would not stand for someone talling me to get rid of my vehicle or that I couldn't drive it anymore instead of getting a new enigne or something to make it legal again.

The real problem was not with the state, it was with Jeep and everyone else for not being able to sell me carburetor parts. I was happy with my low milage 2.8L and the 22 mpg that went with it. But now I have lots of HP with 18 MPG highway, 15 around town and 10 off road.
