Lift kits
Hey guys/girls, I'm ordering my first lift kit soon and was wondering what you all recommended. I'm wanting to get at least a 4 or 4.5 inch kit. I was thinking of going with a kit from Rubicon Express since I haven't heard anything bad about them.
Also this maybe a dumb question so forgive me....but after I get the lift kit it might be awhile before I am able to get bigger tires/wheels, so will I have any problems, besides maybe looking kinda odd, with continuing to use the stock tires/wheels. I'm going to guess it wont matter but I figured I'd play it safe and ask.

If you have the money to afford a Rubicon Express lift I would recommend it... You get what you pay for. However a Rough Country 4.5" lift is gonna do the same thing but you're not gonna have all the extra pieces that come with a Rubicon Express lift. What size tires do you have?

Oh forgot to include that sorry, the tires I have are 27.4 inches. I plan to get bigger ones when I can but wont be able to buy the life kit and tires at the same time.

Yeah I'd recommend maybe finding some cheap 30" or 31" tires in the meantime. Running 28" tires and a 4.5" lift will make your rig pretty top heavy. But you could do it...

I had 30" All Terrains with my 4.5" lift for almost a month and they were bald... It worked. You just have to be careful going around turns.

Are you doing a long arm or short?
I have the RE and its nice, but I don't see any reason not to go with RC and save the extra $$$ for tires. Almost everyone who gets a RC lift loves it.

I'm going to go short arm for now. I had a friend of mine sell me on RC so I'm going with the RC to save the $$$, and I made a call to NTB and price out some 31" tires for a 15" rim and it came out to just under $800 for 5 tires put on rim and 4 mounted.
EDIT--The 4.5" X-series Kit from RC with shipping will cost me a little over $500.
