My 92 XJ check engine light came on, took it to autozone and figured out it has the OBT1 system so there is no connection I think it's something like turning the key on and off so many times and counting the blinks like on outboards....any help?

What you want to do is turn the key on then off then on then off then finally on, your check engine light will blink a code,the short pauses are digits of codes the long pauses are different codes there may be more than one, just grab a pen and paper and watch and count close. Good luck.
