Running 33x12.5 on stock rims?
Has anyone pulled this tricky maneuver off? I have managed to bend 2 of my rims and they will no longer hold a bead. Since I have a set of 4 stock rims I thought I would try it out.
Can it be done?

raceing is you and your car against the clock not the other car , in fact there are no people in the stands , no one else is at the track but you and the tree

Not only will they rub on a stock jeep.....even if they did fit and you had a lift......the may come off the rims pretty easy when aired down or hitting the trails hard enough. Also, because the sidewalls may not be spread out like they would on an aftermarket rim, you may notice a little more instability while travelling on the orad because of sidewall flex.

it would stay on the rim better and be like a poor mans beadlock
but if your tires are any wider than stock then you will definatly notice un even wearon the tires

They might rub on the rear leaf springs and cut up the sidewalls and also will rub inside the rear fender wall during uptravel. Test fit one to see. They WILL fit on the wheels, yes, with HUGE bulging sidewalls, but you'll have to test fit it to be sure. I ran 12.5's on 7" stock wheels on my TJ just fine with some steering stop modifications but the xj's leaf springs might be in the way.
When I had 265 MTZ on stock Icon wheels, the sidewall lugs were 1/4" from rubbing on the leaf spring when mounted. It was very close and these were measured out to be 32x11.

Thanks stamp, never thought of it that way.....Mudd is absolutely correct too......I have 32x10.50 tires on stock aluminum wrangler wheels and I only have about 1/4 inch of room between my tires and the leafs too......I am looking for a set of used rims for my jeep that have a little better offset to them.

I don't think they'll clear the leafsprings... When I put the 8.8 in mine I had 31x10.50's on stock rims, and I couldn't even fit my pinky between the sidewall and the leafpack. 8.8's only 5/8" narrower per side IIRC, and a 12.50 is going to be an inch wider per side than the setup I had. Figuring in some extra sidewall bulge due to the narrow wheel, and I forsee the inner sidewalls rubbing on the 'packs.

You can run the stock wheels with wheel spacers but black steelies are just a little more than spacers so.
I always buy my spacers from cjbargin on ebay. Good quality spacers for $129.

If they're steelies, I'd just remove the tire (or deflate entirely) and beat on it with a dead-blow mallet. Might help to mount the rim backwards on the rig if you need a stable hold on it (if it'll fit)

I know when I lived in Vegas and Salt Lake City there where shops that could straighten out rims steel and aluminum. Might be worth a shot to check around where you live.
