Default 94 XJcoupe Slice and Dice

Hey guys - This Chop build should go fast, cause its allready done, enjoy the pics. It started out to be a budget build- 3 years ago, then it went to my head, must be that jeep thing. Picked it up for $1000 and now I have stopped figuring how much i have invested into the rig, because i dont think Ill ever be done. it still my DD, but slowly going to become a trail rig in the near future.
cheers rob

looked like the prev. owner backed into a garage with the passanger door open, they said it just needed door pins, ya right- both door hinges were ripped out of the pillar

The hinges being ripped apart from the door frame is a pretty common thing on late modle xj's Looking forward to picks after you tear into it.

after replacing the rocker we headed to the floor boards, found out someone had used roofing tar as a fast fix - ya , after replacing both sides of the floor boards, and seeling it up, we removed the soaked headliner, because of a window leak.

we steam-cleaned the carpet and the seats while it was out, and reinstall them befor the chop started. all of this started when we had time to kill while the 4.5 lift from rocky-road was on order.

the top of the tailgate was trimed out in fibre-glass and received 2 square pins on top that go under to cover and lock in

the tonnel cover couldnt be bought, so we custom made 1 out of 1 1/2 square tube, covered with foam core plastic, then fleese, and 6 quarts of fibre-glass, kinda got the idea from my kids doing sub boxes all the time. The fibre-glass is nasty smelling , use lots of fresh ventilation- ya right, im using this stuff in the middle of winter, my garage door should of been a revolving door, but we got it done.

after sanding some, i put down 3 coats of ryhno gaurd on it

The integraty of the roof was reinforced by 1/8 plate, mig welded to the sides in black, the back window still works, but removed 1 shock, because it use to launch the window to fast up. I removed the back seat because of to much water damage, and custom home-made dog seat was installed, with the left over matrial from the new headliner. Under the seat there lots of storrage for a few other thinks that i will be installing later.

the latches were mig to the inside of the box in all 4 corners, as you can see, alittle trimming had to be done to the interior, so the cover fit down level. i reused the back hatch gasget, to run down the old window channel, for a seal for the cover

After a month past the lift finally came in, time to install the 4.5 lift from rockyroad , that included full leaf packs in the rear, front coils and 3" rubber spacer, transfer case drop, new trac bar and 4 doestec extended shocks. i only have a couple of pics, of this install, cause my kids thought it would be a great idea to take the camera on a ski trip, and remove all my pics of the card - garrrrr. The lift went in just like all the rest do with all the rust and broken bolts, in the uni-body, but a sawzall helps a lot to cut the bolts

we custom built the sway-bar mounts, but have now installed disco's, also installed new dual stablizer shocks from skyjacker

Nice looking build man, but I have to ask. Why the dual SS's?

hey kyle - the only reason i went with 2 because of the daily driving i do, averages about 50 miles a day on the hwy, plus our city here doesnt repair the pot holes from the frost in the ground, sometimes you can loose a whole car in them. it does help alot but hinders articulation when off road, and the steering wheel doesnt come back to center as fast as you would want it too, but im kind of use to it now, im still undecidied - if i should remove the 1- time will tell
