The 10bolt is a 1/1 ton axle with 8 lugs.. more or less..
They are good axles and should hold up fine in the XJ... as they have held up fine behind a fullsize pickup with a big block.
Nice looking rig.

-thanks for the nice complements guys- cheers
from what I was told by the prev. owner -the 454 came from a 72 Nova, the86 chevy 3/4 ton frame rear end has possi, and both axles have 4.10 gears, original motor in it was a 350 until he blew it up, havent had much time, but in the near future, I will be pulling them apart. The 10 bolt front will be changed out and upgraded to a D60, both axles will get bigger gears. The plan is to make this next XJcoupe as light as I can -to offset the wieght of the 454 and all, prob turn into a XJ Buggie- thing

Well I was close with the 14 bolt. I don't know the difference in appearence form 3/4 to 1 ton. All I know is that GM has yet to make a bad full size truck axle.

I finally got a day off to work on the heep and changed out the zaggin front coils, that only lasted 3 years, and ditched the top isolators that wasnt helping a bit, upgraded to good/used v8 ZJ coils
WOW what a difference, in ride comfort and didnt gain or loose any lift height
before/after pic- dont mind the rust, winters here gives us that free

Chev 3/4 and he 1 ton are the same rearend.... GM has a light duty 14 bolt that they use in their half ton dissles and suburbans and some other trucks that look alot different then the 1 ton housing and are 5 bolt not 6 or 8 like the 3/4 and the 1 ton

Hum.... Never really took the time to look at the type of rear end in GM products. I always prefered a dodge, or Jeep.

Nice pics! I'd like to get out once over the winter to do some winter wheeling. We'll see how everything pans out. The pics I see of some of you guys wheeling in Canada makes me want to go there more.
