up to gilbert for the crawl 4 the cure! were leaving thursday morning, getting the jeep inspected and registered when we get there, posting up for the night at the cabin, then leaving early friday im my friend's blazer to go to duluth and meet up with my girl's dad. he works at cirrus and they are having a big lunch and we get to watch the practice airshow runs!
then he is coming up saturday and riding along with us. he has a willys he is restoring.
anyways, promised pics!
rims arrived!
originally i had a new set of 10,000 airsoft BBs and i put 10oz into each tire. was going down the freeway and between 40 and 55 it would shake like mad. so i took them all out and did a regular static clip balance, no more issues!
pics
last time you will see short arms on my jeep!
these rims are so sexy! and to all the chrome haters, you can have your opinion but theres nothing wrong with some shiny rims

just got back from wheeling! was an awesome weekend! we raised just under $40k this year all together for the MS society! no breakage, only the exhaust fell off and i bent my pass LCA mount and my cb antenna mount. oh and almost burned the jeep to the ground.
as for the group, had like one of the only XJs out of the 88 rigs snap a rear D35 shaft (running 35s), one CJ rolled, had a TJ blow up a u-joint and many bent tierods.
i was still able to drive it home after hitting black diamond trails over and over! for a rig that was finished minutes before we left, it wheeled amazingly!
still minor stuff to do however.
pictures to come tomorrow!

Mind if I ask why you regret the herculiner? I plan on doing about the same thing you did here in this pic:
Was is the herculiner itself you didn't like, would you have rather gone with linex or rhinoliner?

yeah i get mixed opinions all the time but the black steelies will be used on the street and the cragars are only for the 35s which are trail tires until my 34s are completely bald. who knows the chrome cragars are already gouged and have rock rash so if they start to rust, i might as well paint them.
hood vents are on, just need to paint them, they are white right now.
also got a buddy thats gonna help me put in gears so when i get my bonus at work, thats where thats going. now its just debating between 4.56s and 4.88s. i think when my KM2s wear down (way down the road), i might jump up to 36" iroks.

vents look good.
if you are going 35 and/or 36's might as well go 4.88's!
replied to your comment in my thread about gears.

Which tires are taller your 34" Trxus, or your 35" KM2's?

I agree, I'm not a fan of the bedliner either. I did it to mine, and was VERY anal retentive about prepping REALLY well, and it still flaked off in parts. Unless you plan on refreshing it once every 12-18 months then don't do it. You're better off going with paint.
As for the bent control arm mounts, I highly recommend boxing them in.
Here is a picture of my upper control arm mount boxed in:
And here are pictures of the LCA mounts boxed in:
Having the CA mounts boxed in makes a HUGE difference in how strong they are. It's also nice having the lowers boxed in b/c they act as skid plates and protect the CA's quite a bit.
