Well over spring break i got my axles into the shop and regeared...
And i finally found some time to put the front back in and do some work on the 8.8
broke out the angle grinder and got the old perches off along with the sway bar perches, welded the axle tubes, (remembered that i cannot weld for *$&%) I will save some face and not post pics of the welds. lol
Wire brushed the whole thing and painted it all black.
ahhh its perrrrty.
Now im ready to pull the old axle, find my pinion angle, have someone else weld on the leaf perches and shock mounts, set up my brake lines and I should be rolling.
The carrier in the 8.8 has the stock limited slip in it, so im going to have to locate an open carrier to put the aussie locker into. (Wish I would have thought of that before i had it geared)
Now

Good choice with gears
A tip for the future... don't paint anything until all welding is complete. You're going to have to remove the paint so that you can weld on the spring perches and shock mounts because a weld is at it's strongest when the two surfaces are pure and not tainted by paint.

Yeah i thought about that, i will have to clean it up before welding. I was thinking that when the day comes where i have time to actually get the axle mounted, I won't have time to paint it also. And i really didn't want to paint it while it was mounted. I probably should have waited, but oh well.
It would make things a lot easier if the shop where i work on my jeep at was where i lived.

I have still been fighting electrical issues from my underwater mishap... but that does not mean i can't continue to build in other area's.
I just recieved this in the mail the other day...
Track bar with frame side drop bracket and axle side OTK relocation bracket from TNT Customs.
This stuff is heavy duty. I was really impressed with the quality, and Ron was a real cool guy to talk with. A+
Along with the track bar setup, i ordered JCR's 1-ton OTK steering package. Im crossing my fingers hoping it gets here before tomorrow. (Mainly just to show it off to my friends. )
I also have a steering box from a Durango to swap in along with a power steering pump from a 4.7 WJ to swap in. After my underwater experience, i cannot seem to get all the water out of my stock pump and it starts whining pretty lound very quick when the front end is locked up.
Im hoping to get some solid jeep time in tomorrow...
First thing i want done is the power steering pump along with tracking down my electrical problems. Then would come the Durango box.
Track bar and steering will have to go on another day. I still need to get a reemer for the steering.
More pics to come!
