No pictures but I did finish up my DS quarter panel and leaf spring mount. Also did a rough cut on my tail-light plates and should have those mounted in this week hopefully.

I'll try to get some pics soon.

EDIT: Sorry my pictures aren't working right now, I'll be fixing it soon enough.

You know I have seen it before and I like it. My only ?s are what welder are you using? Why didn't you weld the pieces on the back of the cab instead of the rivets??

Thanks and I'm using a Millermatic 175. The reason for the rivets is simple and two fold 1) I had never MIG welded prior to owning this (did very little stick welding over 20 years ago) and 2) I had the rivets sitting around.

I did try welding it in the beginning but I failed pretty miserably, that body is very thin and I kept burning through it. Since then I've welded to it in a few spots with varying luck.

I will try to fix all the pictures soon but I'm pretty busy in school (life has changed a little since I started this!). In the mean time here's a link to the (working) gallery.

And here's a teaser shot...

I was beginning to worry that one of my favorite builds had died...

Good to have you back, man!

Ok, all the pictures are fixed!

Now, where did we leave off...

First I'll cover where I've been. At 40 I decided to quit my well paying job and go to school full-time! My wife couldn't get enough hours in Boise so we moved to Coeur D' Alene and she's been my sugar momma while I go to school full-time and work part-time! I still own my house in Boise and am renting it to a friend, after school my wife and I are going to travel a little then head back to Boise. I graduate with my A.S. in Business Administration from North Idaho College this Spring and then I'll head to Lewis Clark State College (here in CDA) for my B.S. in Accounting - I have no intention of being an accountant, but out of all the finance degrees it's the one that suits me best.

I also became a grandfather! My oldest son had a daughter last June. Him and his ex-girlfriend are no longer together so he lives with us and is essentially a single father and he just started going to school this semester!

Needless to say I've been slightly busy over the last two years! Unfortunately the XJ has just been sitting. It's kind of broke, I'm kind of broke and I really don't have the time for it. I did drive it around in the snow the other day. My last house had a very small garage so the Jeep just sat under some boxes for a year or so. My new house has a bigger garage and possibly some 220 (still need to see if it works ) but we recently moved here and I haven't had time to do anything yet. Hopefully I'll have some time in the summer?

Ok, on to the Jeep!

My last update was the shackles, I haven't done a lot since then but I did get a few things taken care of.

I finished up the bed rails. I originally was going to bend up some sheet metal to make some rails but I decided to go with tube instead. At the same time I decided to build my light housings. For that I used some 3/16" plate I had lying around.

I think it looks pretty good.

Cutting the rail...

Tacking in the light housing (not really a housing?)

Tying the two together...

Test fitting the lights...

My backup lights and license plate will go on a piece of sheet-metal that will be installed where the license plate currently sits. It will span the space between the down-tubes.
