The doubler is a long way off so I haven't even thought about DS's yet but I'd imagine the front DS can just be lengthened (retubed) and who knows about the rear? Not sure if I'll need a new one but it might be short enough I could use a TJ front DS or an Explorer front DS and have it retubed or shortened - I haven't measured anything for that stuff yet...

Thanks fellas.
I bent up the passenger side boatside last night; tonight I'm going to try finishing those up so I can start on the cage... |

A buddy was hanging out a few weeks ago and we had some time to kill so I figured it was time to chop the top off. Actually I was waiting for my tube bender to show up...and it finally did.
Not a real detailed write-up but here goes... First cut... Second cut... And off she comes...as you can see I left quite a bit on there; I did this because I didn't know exactly what I was going to do to finish it off... Started trimming down the top... Found a piece of 3/8" steel that fit in there perfect and it already had a curve to it...! Drilled some holes for a few rivets... Quick coat of blue paint and some rivets... To finish the back of the cab I decided to use some sheet metal that was left over from the wheel wells...
Cut to final length and folded over... Sheet metal bent up and riveted on...(I'm beginning to like those rivets...) For the bed rails I'm going to grab some 16ga sheet metal and have it bent up like a regular truck bed rail... Last edited by Chili Palmer; 01-20-2012 at 10:17 PM. |

For tail-lights I cut the majority of the factory stuff out and fabbed up a plate to hold 1 4" and 2 2" lights (3 lights per side/6 total). The 4" is installed now I just need to go buy the 2" lights and cut the holes. Nothing is wired up yet; once the dash is done I'll wire the whole thing...
Cutting the factory stuff... Mock up...my daughter is going to start wondering where her paper is going ![]() First cut... Final layout with 4" hole cut out... Light installed... The 2 2" lights will be for turn indicator and back-up light. They will be below the 4" light, the turn indicator will be on the right of the panel and the backup light will be on the left of the panel. Now that the boatsides are done I'm either going to work on the cage this weekend or the bumpers...
