Gotcha... it's just a suggestion. It saves you the head-scratching of where to put an OBA tank.

and, if you put enough air in there. you can float jkjk
I like the looks of the OBA set up. However, I would be too dang impatient to wait that long to get some air in a tire. How come you didn't go with a more heavy duty compresser?

3 minutes for a 33" tire is not bad at all when you're going from 8 PSI to 30 PSI. The only way you'd do it any faster is if you're using CO2 or compressed air from a tank.
You could go with a heavier duty compressor but it's not like you're going to knock off a significant amount of time at that point. Again, you're comparing apples to oranges when comparing compressed air versus air coming straight from an air compressor.

I have a bunch of empty Scott bottles and friends with the local FD, if i didnt want to go the OBA route i could rig up a mount for one of them in the back... good alternative if i dont want to put yet another thing to my battery

CO2 is a great way to keep compressed air - the only inconvenience is that when it runs empty you'll have to get it filled. CO2 tanks can also run air tools, and depending on the size they can last a long time.

How important is it for you guys to have an air compressor? I have always just run about 15-20psi and then filled up at a gas station. but then again. my max speed was probably 25-30

It's actually a great thing to have. When I do drive my truck to the trails it's just alot easier to fully get it back together (reconnect the sway bars, air up, tighten all the bolts, etc) instead of doing some of it now and some of it down the road again. When I trailer it doesn't matter so much because it goes on the trail disco'd and aired down and then gets off the trailer at my house so there's no difference. It's still nice to have it on the trail.
Also, when you blow a bead on the trails it's nice to be able to re-seat it so that you have a spare for the rest of the day instead of installing your spare and being left with nothing.
It has several good uses. When you're camping you can fill your air mattress, etc.

I normally run 8 in the front and 12 in the rear, and I've gone down the highway with it. But it was only for 5-6 miles, and it wandered pretty bad.
But like 2000XJ said, it can help you in a lot of ways besides airing up. I'd look into one.

Also, driving with aired down tires makes them run hotter, which increases the chances of a blowout depending on your speed and how far you go. For the price an individual tire, it's not worth blowing one out.

I also use my compressor to do my own flat fixes around the garage. I don't have a full size compressor yet.
The little guy is damn awesome and has been used more times then I can count.
