Yep, makes me sad looking at it like that everyday. I was hoping to get the SYE done on the new tcase and have it back on the road today, but it didn't happen - I got too caught up with a bunch of other things. Hopefully I'll get to it this weekend.

what SYE kit did you decide to go with?

I'm going to redo the RE HnT SYE on the new tcase. I already have it, it's super easy to do, and since I'm tight on cash now, it just makes sense to carry it over to the new tcase.

Well today I started the day off by making a mount for my air compressor. I was originally going to make a mount similar to XJJeepThing's, but in the end I decided to go with a simpler, less space occupying design. When I wheel I carry spare shafts, spare steering, a 33" spare tire, toolbag, so I wanted something relatively compact. I do love his setup, and if I didn't carry so much crap I would've used it. Oh well.
I started off by removing the factory spare tire mount, sanding it down and repainting it because it was really scratched up, and I wanted this mount to look nice for at least a little while before stuff scratches it up.
Then I had a factory TJ battery mount that was donated by a friend of mine laying around. I used a cut off wheel to cut off the nuts that were welded to the back of it. Then I cut it down to basically the size of the air compressor itself. Used a flapper to take care of sharp edges, and get rid of the factory primer that was on it.
Once this was done, I placed the factory spare tire mount in its factory location, took some measurements and drilled two holes through the potential mounting plate and tire mount. Once that was done I bolt it down with two 5/16" bolts and measured out where the holes for the legs of the compressor would go. Once they were measured out, I drilled out the holes for another set of 5/16" bolts.
Once everything was drilled, I primered and painted the factory mount and the plate that would hold the air compressor.
Once the paint was dry, I bolted everything together - and this is the end result. It's nice and sturdy, and I used ny-locks nuts so that the vibration of the air compressor and wheeling wouldn't loosen them up. It's not going anywhere. It looks cheesy and kind of half-assed, but it works.

I also took some time to fix the pretty bent tie rod and replace the taillights on the XJ.
Taillights - yea, no big deal, just taillights.
Currie Tie Rod Before:
Currie Tie Rod after rotating it so that the bend faces down, and using a floor jack to straighten it back out - not too shabby.

I can get you some stats on the compressor tomorrow, unless someone on here chimes in first (which is welcomed because I know some of you guys have the same compressor).
Works pretty much just like any other. The hose connects at the chrome piece near the gauge, and the switch is on the black cylinder that is closer to the rear hatch (the sunlight is preventing it from being seen). I have it hard-wired directly to the battery.
It does one of my 33's from about 8-12 PSI to 30 PSI in about 3 minutes or so.

im liking your rig more and more every day, man. you've got some of the most inventive uses of parts from other rigs ive seen. whered you get the idea for the battery base as a support?

Thanks alot!
My buddy had actually given me a few things from his rig that he basically tore down and rebuilt. One of them was the battery box, and another was a tuffy console that the previous owner had put in the TJ, that my friend no longer had any need for.
I originally started to mess around with the tuffy box. Like I said, the idea was to make something like XJJeepThing's mount:
I had trimmed most of the box off, and basically made an L out of it. I then measured around the factory tie down point (where XJJeep's net is hooked to), cut out a hole in the tuffy console around it so I could still utilize it. Then I got some L-brackets and bolts, and before I started to drill the holes for them I started to wonder how much space this would occupy. Too much was the answer.
So I went through my pile of scrap metal and came across the battery mount. I figured that if I trimmed it to the size of the compressor, drilled a few holes, and mounted it to the spare tire carrier mount that I'd be good-to-go. The compressor doesn't weigh much, and the spare mount is bolted down by 2 bolts and 2 sheet metal screws/bolts so it's plenty strong for this application.
It also fits pretty well between the wheel well hump and the gas tank filler tube hump. Everything just kind of fell into place with this little project

both yours and XJJeepThing's setups with the sompressor are pretty cool. 3 minutes to refill a 33? not bad. i need some onboard air... too busy trying to come up with a homebrew bumper i forget about all my little side projects i want to do =(

Fully box your bumper and turn it into an air tank. This way you'll have OBA and compressed air so you can run air tools
