therein lies my issue. the suspension set-up currently on it has been donkey-punched to death. it literally rides likes ****. so im thinking some new gear, like springs, bushings, shocks, and leafs would improve the ride alot.

yeah a new kit would fix that. Decide how much lift you want and then we can throw some options your way.

I like the idea of a 4 or 4.5, because its not overkill for the application. its economical for right now, my ideal situation is a 6 inch long arm, but the funds dont match the dreams.

no SYE on it, no sir. sorry for the delay in responding, had to go see the back doctor. it doesnt even have a transfer case drop kit, i dont believe. what is the general idea on rough country? i found a 4 and 4.5 with the shocks, coil springs, u-bolts and other hardware, along with add-a-leafs. but i dont want to put garbage on it. no sense in wasting money. i found the steering box for 150, and a new alternator for 70. the floor panel i found for 92 from q-tec, and the fenders for 36. along with the lift, is it advisable to buy a master bushing set?

If you want it to ride decently, get the full leaf packs instead of the AAL. It's a little more money but worth it. Most people who do an AAL end up going full packs and wasting money on the AAL.

I actually planned on eventually going to full pack, but for the budget on this one, Im going to have to ride on the OEM's for the time being. As for the bastard packs, I read through the post and Im fairly sure I have a good idea of whats going on lol. If im trying to spend the lowest amount right now on improving ride, what direction should I go? Full lift or new shocks, springs, bushings, and a bastard pack?
Also, my dash voltage gauge reads 9, but Im not really sure if the alternator isnt working. Ive noticed theres been issues previously with the XJ electrical system from what Ive read. Anything on that?

Ive been taking up the interior and all the interior panels to clean them up and paint them, and everything is pretty much out. Minus the drivers seat and that section of carpet. The case-hardened nuts and bolts have completely rusted together, making impossible to seperate. I decided to take the angle grinder to them and cut them off today, under the assumption that i can place new bolts for the new seats offset to where the OEM are located. Or I was thinking of drilling them out and replacing them.
As far is the interior goes, Im not going to focus alot of my budget there, so I was curious as to what I could put down in the way of a rhino liner or duragrip for the floorboard. Im not going to put carpet back in it, a. because its senselessly expensive, and b. because Ive never believed theres any reason for a Jeep to have carpet.

Mine is a DD and I will take it anywhere. If you going to lift it do it right the first time it is cheaper and don't buy the cheapest lift you can find, you WILL NOT be happy. Spend some cash now and save alot down the road, plus you will be able to wheel it and still drive it back home. Just some food for thought.

IMHO- The Rhinoliner may make it pretty hot inside. Those jeep tubs are open and get alot of air flow, ya know?
Just a thought...

Well, my budget took a real punch yesterday when my pops asked me for some money. I had plans to buy the new floorboard, then I was going to decide on the floor covering. Good point on the fact that the tubs are pretty windy lol. So, what do you know of people using aside from carpet and rhinoliner?

For the floor rot, I feel your pain. I had the same thing happen to me. Thought I got a great deal untill I pulled the carpet back and she looked like swiss cheese. I don't know ifd you have acess to a welder but just buy some sheet metal at your local welding shop or home depot and cut it up and make your own patchs. I think the pre-made floor pans are like $100 and are made of some pretty thin stuff. For the $100 you could buy enough sheet metal to do the whole floor, grinder wheels, and cutting discs plus a twelve pack to help ease the pain.
