This o-ring is the one between the block and the oil filter adapter. Not the o-ring that comes on the filter.

When I worked at a shop, a guy came in for an oil change on his XJ that had 317k miles on it. Used it for trips to Colorado and New Mexico trails. He mentioned he was looking into rebuilding it for the first time.

Like they say if you take care of it, it will take care of you.

Mine I was told was a swap with 80,000 & the OD says 165. Had to change the thermostat, replace missing bell housing bolts, & lengthen the kick down cable for the tranny.

My 1993 Grand Cherokee Laredo has 185 and change.
I had that ticking sound for about 8,000 miles, then i found out what it was. The lifter for the cylinder number 1 exhaust valve dropped. After it happened i had to drive it 9 miles to my place. When all was said and done, a good 1/4" to 1/2" was shaved off compared to the other lifters. Enough to allow the spring to be pulled out with no effort from the top. Replaced the 12 lifters and the head gasket. Ever since my oil pressure has been all wonky. I was worried about the extra clearance between the camshaft and the bearing so i upgraded to 20W-50 oil with the K&N oil filter. Its been about 7,000 miles now and she still runs like a champ.
