73 Mercury with a 351 running 150 through a red light, and a 78 Grand Prix I took the v6 and tranny out and put in a 350 and 350 turbo I built ran it up to 170, that thing would get you killed quick.

Helped my buddy build a 68 camaro with a 427 and a blower. He let me drive it a couple times, I had it upto 185, holding the steering wheel straight and it was floating back and fourth.
Had my humvee upto about 85, anyone who has driven one knows that's hard to do lol. I thought the engine was gonna blow, the batteries actually started getting hot to where the passenger could tell through his seat lol.

The faster car I've driven that I MYSELF have owned was my 3rd car which was a 1987 Mustang LX Coupe. I bought it as a rolling chassis from a friend for $200 and built the motor/transmission myself and put it in. It was a stock block 302 bored .30 over with JE Pistons, Trick Flow High Port Heads, Trick Flow Cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake, and a Holley 650 Double Pumper Carb. The car was completely gutted and had a built C4 transmission and 4.30 gear in the rearend. It was set up to run Nitrous but I never sprayed it. It ran 7.30's in the 1/8th on the motor. It had the potential to run mid 6's on the gas but I never got the chance to spray it. I miss that car! I built it while working part time WHILE being in High School. No one paid for anything for the car except myself and I was proud of that.
Now, the fastest car I've driven that I didn't own was my buddy's '89 LX Hatch car that had a 408W with a Procharger, and a glide w/ a brake. Racing junkies will know what I'm talking about. Ran low 6's consistently on a street tune. I never cracked the throttle wide open because I was afraid I'd **** my pants. This thread reminds me that I need to get back to work on my '86 so I can get it to the strip!

The fastest I have drove myself was two of my brother in-laws cars a 07 Civic Si and a Acura RSX each with a greddy turbo kit pushing about 10-12 psi.
The fastest I have ever driven myself was 138/139 ish in my 94 Honda Del Sol with DOHC vtec and no governor.
The fastest car I have driven in is a 06 BMW 7 series with a lot of engine work and about 750 hp at the wheels, its the BMW with the formula one paddle shifters and tranny. Not sure of our top speed but I know we did well over 100 mph in about 10 seconds.

Many, many years ago a buddy of mine had a 1968 dodge super bee with a 383 magnum with a 4 speed and posi rear end. He also had a 68 Chevy pickup that had a engine and trans out of a 78 camero that we put in in, we re geared the axle. It would do at least 140. Not the best steering, but it would fly

135+ in my first car on the city freeway, '72 elcamino with a 350/350, 3.73 posi. still had more to go but I about crapped my pants when I hit a tiny bump in the road and changed lanes. thankfully nobody was around me.
90+ in my XJ. not quite sure exactly how fast but the needle was well past the 85mph mark. it was pointing to about 7o'clock on the speedo.
