Project HUM WEE started
Abovetimberline came out today and we moved Hum Wee into the shop. It has its own little niche separate from all those big bad Jeeps. Work will commence on it in short increments until we get to the really hard part, the engine and tranny. That will be the expensive part.

That's cool!
What engine and tranny you plan on using?
Can't wait for the updates on this one.

I am going to use a Subaru EJ55 or 57 engine and 5 speed auto tranny. Very light, low center of gravity and very quick. It will be like my XJ. Keep the body and frame and replace everything else

Started putting the springs on. The pics show it flat on the bump stops. Here it is in the back of the shop. My new XJ rear axle is in front of it.

I started that when we moved in and then was forced to start working on the XJ and have had too much stuff in the shop to finish it since. I will get around to it some day. The plan was to heat and cool it. It gets so hot here it is no fun to sweat in the grease. I had a heat pump in my shop in WA state and it was great.

4.3..what are you overall plans for the Mite? I think you may have one of the few "custom" mites... most get restored to the military roots.

When I bought it many years ago, it was to mod. It drives so well off road it is hard to improve on it. Except, it was so gutless and the motors short lived. About 500 hours between rebuilds. I have been waiting for technology to catch up with my day dreams. Looks like it finally has.
Subaru EJ55 engine and 5 speed auto tranny with front diff removed.
Samurai tcase with 5:1 low range and a few other improvements.
Toy diffs with lockers
And a good paint job to go with some cosmetic improvements.
