Default TJ Genright Mid arm upgrade.

I do a fair amount of lift kits at work I dont get to do stuff like this often so I thought I would share. This is one of our sales guys TJ and a friend of mine, a little history its a 98 TJ with a D44/9", Stak T-case, 37" Iroks, 4.88s and lockers. It has coils in the rear and leafs up front due to money ($300-400 axle bracket kits) at the time of installing the axles. Well his rear frame CA mounts and CAs were shot so instead of upgrading the front like he wanted to he was forced to do the rear.

Long install short, we took the rear end out completely and we cut all the brackets off the axle except the shock and coil brackets. Then the mounts from the frame came off via Snap-on Air Hammer. Then after a lot of measuring the fun began, here are some pics.

Welded the upper frame mounts (there was a lot of measuring here)

Welded the new lower axle brackets on.

We started to make a small truss to weld the upper axle brackets on we will finish it later it does it job for now. The Ford 9" center section if off center a little bit and due to the angle that the diff sits at we had to build a little platform to weld the UCA mounts.

Then we measured and cut the CAs to length and welded them up I didn't get any pics of this but here are a few shot if them install and flexing on the ramp.

Here are a few shots of it on the ramp. Everything worked out nice, no binding, everything clears we had to mod the exhaust but he will fix that later as well.

Why did he ditch the 4-link for leaf springs up front? That's odd.

Money he did not have the cash to buy both front and rear bracket kits and I believe he had the leaf packs from another vehicle, he plans to put coilovers in the front with the Genright 3 link

if so or even not. it looks like it flexes like crazy even with leafs up front. a lot of YJ guys do the same thing and leave leafs up front and do a coil swap in rear.

Its really not a bad set up, he is like a XJ just in reverse and I like the way XJs are setup it works well IMO. It works nice so he is not in a super big hurry to do the front.

Nope just missing the shinny part so its hard to see. Come on meow we work for 4 Wheel Parts we have lug nuts getting kicked around the shop floor daily. Plus we have to keep our rigs clean, we have customers looking at them everyday so they cant be missing lugs.

He has 4 in coils and with the Ford 9" and the added coil buckets he might be around 5" or so.
