Default Heating Problem - 2001 Grand Cherokee Ltd

I'm hoping someone can give me a couple of ideas as to the cause of this problem.

Both hoses into the car are hot however when I put the heating on high, it blows warm for about 10 seconds and then starts blowing cold.

The air does seem colder than outside air however the AC light is not on. Also - after running for 5 minutes or so the AC light comes on itself...

Any ideas out there?

the systen is not plugged but it could be the wiring - if it is no idea where to start. Couldnt afford to put it into the dealer for diagnosis either.

I am not good with electronics, but I do know, from experience, keep it simple. It might be something real easy to fix ya would over look.
