I'm surprised you haven't.

Last fall there was a group of off-roaders playing in the black mud at Brush Hollow (Penrose), but the area has quite a few trails that were opened by persons not driving where they should and now are popular with off-roaders WARNING Much of the surrounding land has been subdivided and one owner, at least, puts up "No Trepass " signs all over the place.

Up in the mountains there's fire roads that lead to some cool places from what I've heard and north of town there's a trail full of rocks from fist size to boulders just past Red Canyon Park.

I just don't get down there much is all. I would love to go down and nose around, to see what kind of trouble I can get into!! I know there has to be a lot of trail down there, but it is like searching for the "needle in the hay stack" type of thing. I know there is a little more opportunity to wheel in the cooler months down there, and that is my biggest reason of interest!! I've been down by BH, and around the Indy network, but Indy is a little more than I want to do!! LOL!! All of the trail around BH seem to dead end. I have spent a little time in the BLM land by Indy, and there looked to be some cool lines in there, but the last time I went down there, the BLM land was closed due to wet conditions, AWESOME!!

When I was training National Guard troops to take their 6X6 5 ton Dump Trucks off road, the first thing I did was tell them to walk the trail.

The harder it is to walk, the more care you need to drive it.

If you're not sure, go around.

Never go out alone, have someone go with you with another 4X4 and recovery equipment. You may have a ton of recovery gear with you, but a rock will not pull you out when a tow strap is tied to it.

In 12 years of National Guard service, I never had to have a single rig whiched out.

take plenty of water ... correction:

Take plenty of water.

And,

Never leave the house without your brain.

Did I mention to take plenty of water?

Well, look at it this way:

When I worked at the hospital in Moab UT, we had posters all over town reminding folks to take water with them when leaving town.

I had a fellow waiting in the ER waiting area (dehydration, maybe???) stop me and ask how could he tell if he had enough water each day.

I told him the truth: "If you ain't peeing like you do at home, you're not drinking enough."

The RN on duty overheard us and told him the same thing.

Then she said to me, "Not bad advice ... for a janitor."

But she had a big smile on her face ...

Are you new to CO?

CO has a standing rule: if you don't like the weather wait five minutes except in the mountains where it changes without notice.

Keep an eye on the oither Jeeps in your area. When they start showing up dirty, it's time.
