If it will power drills, grinders, saws, and a decent size impact gun I will be happy. So far i've tested everything but the impact gun and it did fine. I camp just about every weekend in the summer so it should be very handy for that. I've been in a couple situations where i've said, "it sure would be nice to have AC power right now" and just finally broke down and made it happen. The inverter shown above was only $35 on sale at costco and it retails for around $150 so, I couldn't pass it up.

I made coffee, ran drills, a grinder and a weed eater with my 800/1600....
But it quit for some reason, I have a smaller one in there now, to power the laptop.....
Mounted mine to the passenger side of the transmission hump.
Really, I don't know why it quit.....

How hot does it get? I was thinking of mounting one under the driver side back seat where the Infinity amp was located but wasn't sure how hot an inverter would get.

For the small amount of time i've ran it, it has not got very hot, just warm. Once I work it a little bit harder I will get back to you. Maybe 2000XJ or some of the other guys with inverters may have some better feedback.

Very hot when using it to power a weed eater.... But that was bouncing mine off the redline.... If you're not using it hard very little heat....

Thanks! I may need to come up with a way to keep it from becoming a problem.

PC fans work great, i've used them for amplifiers and they work wonders, of course you have to figure out a way to mount them but thats not rocket science.

How so a problem? Maybe explain what you're worried about, and then we can tell you from our experiences if it's going to be a problem or not.

Amps = Watts/Volts.
Amps = 1000/120
Amps = 8-1/3
Ohm's Law and Watt's Law both come in very handy!
NB: Most inverters do not like "pure inductive" loads - like electric motors and such. If your inverter starts making funny noises, or your electric motor doesn't run quite right, plug in a small light as well - the resistive load will help knock the noise out of the inverter circuit. I found this out while working at an outdoor shooting range - I'd have my truck backed up to the line in summer, with a fan going and the liftgate open. Found out about the "inductive load" thing, put a Peltier module on the fan (resistive load) to help cool the air going through it, and win-win!
