Besides an eye sore, will rust on those shock shafts really hurt anything?

Yeah what 4.3L XJ said. This is normal with skyjacker shocks cuz they like to rust up. They usually start leaking after 2 years or so.....

Can you put some kind of lube or something on there to prevent the rusting?

Jeep still isn't done...more issues due to the tard that lifted the jeep before I owned it. The shackles that are on the rear are too small and since I went with the full spring pack there isn't much they can do. I think they are gonna try to get some stock shackles tomorrow. They threw in the 2.2 stabilizer for free for all the waiting I've been having to deal with. These are good guys, I feel bad that they are having to deal with so much crap on my jeep. Definitely glad I didn't try to do this myself.

I mentioned to them that yours started rusting and they looked shocked but then I told them you were in a northern state and they figured it made sense from all the salt in the winter.

Sweet.

Hey does your crossmember have recessed nuts for the tranny mount or are they exposed like mine? I got word that RC modified their crossmember and now it has recessed holes for the nuts instead of them on the bottom exposed to carnage.

The only bolts that are exposed are the ones on the frame rails. Everything else is recessed.

Oh you lucky son of.........

So it's true. RC made a quick fix on their crossmembers a few months after the release. So those of us who have the 1st generation have to deal with the bolts and dropped drivetrain. Come on RC, ya could've thought of this a few months earlier.......

There was a thread on jeepforum about a dude who modified his 1st generation crossmember to have recessed bolts and slots for adjustment. he posted pictures of it in the RC thread over there and then whatdoyaknow, RC copied his design into their crossmembers......

Here's mine now:

You can see how the built-in drop makes the 231 line up with the bottom of the crossmember. Because of this, they had to make a transfer case skid that actually sits lower than the crossmember, losing ground clearance.

Yeah, I noticed that on mine too. Good thing they threw in the tcase skid. How are your shackles set up? Mine are angled FORWARD!! Ride sucks and everytime I hit a bump the shackle hits the mount which makes it so the spring can't absorb any of the impact. Very annoying.
