Default Anybody run both Blocks and Shackles?

I was looking to go about an inch or two higher with my lift and I was curious how safe having blocks and shackles actualy was. currently I have 2inch leaf packs with 2inch shackles, would adding a 1 or 2 inch block make it unsafe? it seems sketchy to me but I don't want to mess with the leak packs again

Blocks aren't unsafe if they are installed properly and made of steel BUT they are alot of stress on the leaf springs. IMO, running 1" blocks ain't too bad but anything larger than that is a bad idea unless you are running stiff springs.

You can add an old man emu AAL and net another inch. It won't increase the spring rate too much like traditional AAL's. You'll still have a nice ride. They are probably the same price and are a better alternative to blocks.

I ran two of these in each pack before and it was still a nice riding leaf pack.

Yeah I have 1" blocks on one of my jeeps and it's been going fine for 2 years now. Just keep it 1" or under and it will be fine.

My experience with lift blocks has never been a good one. They were all aluminum, and would smash. I would strongly suggest making sure it's a STEEL block.

I made my own out of 1/2X2 1/2 steel flat bar. Drilled the center for the center pin and made it part of the spring. Very stable and is the way it is done in heavy trucks.

When I used to run my 2 inches of blocks I got bad axle wrap and wheel hop on climbs. I will sell my blocks for 5 bucks via paypal if anyone's interested. No u bolts though. Any ways, I as well wouldn't suggest blocks and shackles on stock springs, it puts ALOT of stress under load and going over bumps.
