First off, ask him what size tire he wants to run, then lift it to fit.

If you want a very strong kit, RE, or RockKrawler are good options. At that height he will have to replace basically everything under the jeep:

arms
trackbar
brake lines
driveshafts (front may get by)
springs
shocks
steering may need upgraded

Everything from the unibody down.... and beef up some things above...

I kit would be nice, but at that size, custom stuff starts becoming just about as affordable as kits. And in my opinion, stronger....

If he knows how or who to build it himself, or for him...

Ok, im sitting at 8 inches and here's what I think

Axles - Chrysler 8.25 is stong as far as the housing, but I would upgrade the shafts. As far as the Dana 30 up front, your kinda already pushing it with 35's, but IDK about 37's. Either way, I would definatly put a Truss on it. T&T Customs (Treks Offroad Equip.) has the best one I've seen.

Steering - I have stock now and......well don't get me started. It NEEDS replacing. Problem is that not many places offer stuff for that height. I'm gonna go with the JCR 1- Ton Over The Knuckle steering.

Arms - I have short arms now and they don't work very well at that height. Get long arms, you'll be very happy. T&T Customs has an upgrade for the front which is what im going with.

Front Springs - SkyJacker and Big OffRoad have 8" ones. RE has 7.5". Can't think of any more right now in that height range.

Rear Leafs - I have 2" blocks and I will never recommend them to anybody. They are making my leafs doing all sorts of funny things. Big OffRoad Has a set 6" and 8" leafs that come in Heavy Duty. Which will help eliminate axle wrap. I do recommend the Rough Country Adjustable shackles by the way.

Driveshafts - Your going to need a SYE
no matter what. I have a RE Hack-n-Tap with a RE driveshaft and it works fine, but if I go any higher I can see that it will bind at the CV joint. I also have a 1" T-Case drop. I tried to take it out one day, and well....that was a bad idea. Felt like the Jeep was going to blow up. I would upgrade it too. Tom Woods has some nice shafts....

Shocks - Just your own preference on this one. IMO I like the Bilstein 5150's....

Brake Lines - Your gonna need some looong one's. I stiil have the stockers and they scare me.....

Track Bar - Rusty's has one for an 8" lift but that's all I know of.

One more thing, STIFFEN UP EVERYTHING POSSIBLE. T&T has unibody "rail" stiffeners, Temper Mental Racing has pre-cut metal you can weld in behind the front spring/shock area, C-Rok has a steering box bracing plate, and RE and Rusty's has a steering brace that goes to the pitman arm.

Well that's all I can think of at the moment, but i'm sure i'll remember more later after I hit the post button.......

Well I could pretty easily spend 3k, but that's me......and I have a really bad addiction problem

But seriously 3k would probably get just about everything.....
