JK shock conversion
I'm about to have my rear shock brackets cut off and new ones welded level with the axle tube. Doin this would require getting new shocks. Since i'm poor and have no other jeep parts to sell for cash, I'm gonna switch to JK shocks. I landed a set of free Rubicon shocks.
When I got the shocks I literally busted out laughing when I saw how thick the shock shaft was compared to my RC shocks.
Those are the rear shocks. I haven't received the front shocks yet but will soon. I plan to extend the front shocks by fabbing up a bracket for the axle mount and then relocate the rear shock mounts up 3" and that should do it.

You could still use those RC shocks, if you notice the reservoir is only a inch or two longer than the other shocks. that is what would matter on up travel. the extended length only matters when they are extended. If you really needed it you could cut the rubber bumper off the end, your bump stops should stop the axles before the shock maxes out anyway.

I thought about this and took some measurements. With the RC shocks and relocated mounts, I have 2" uptravel in the shocks. With the JK shocks and relocated mounts, I have 4.5" uptravel. This is without removing the rubber bumpstops. I'm not too thrilled with the firmness of the RC shocks either so I was looking to install softer, high pressured shocks instead. I just need to find a front set of JK shocks, which is turning out to be a chore.

I did the bracket relocation thing. Only took a few minutes. I used the stock bracket. I just cut it off with a saws all and with a little grinding to accommodate the curve of the axel tube welded it right in. I moved it to the outside slightly to allow me to use the same shock

That's probably what I'm gonna do IF i can get the stud bent back to it's original shape without breaking it off. I have the stud bent down to make up for the axle tilt.

Here is the articulation you can get from it.
Those yellow shocks are Monroe Gas Magnums. They give a nice soft cushy ride for us old folks

Turns out this modification isn't going to work out. I got word that the front JK shocks are about 22" so they are 4" too short. I'm gonna have to come up with another plan.

Mud, I can give you some part numbers for the type of shocks I run. But you will need BPEs for it. Just send me the length you need.
