I read so much jeep stuff theres no way I could keep track of it all so I keep mental notes, but it was over at JF there were at least 2 cases of rod throwing at 200k.

at 200k a lot of things can happend..specially if the engine was poorly mantain...

Most oil filters do have a check valve in them to prevent drain-back. That doesn't mean it will work. Especially if you let the engine sit for a while... At the same time it might function 100% as intended forever and ever. Of course, you still can't really prime the oil filter while doing an oil change, unless you crank the engine until it is primed.

And no, I wasn't saying it specifically would kill the engine. But it contributes to unneeded wear.
