Are Old Man Emu kits worth the extra cost?
Started looking at lifts last night for the 2000 Sport. The OME kits are almost 3 times the cost of the same or similar Rusty's kit. Is it just marketing or is there truly a quality difference? Assuming there is a difference, is it in the shocks, the springs, or both? Thanks.

They ride pretty good, but IMO it's not worth it. I would go with a cheaper kit and invest in a LA kit with the extra money. I would stay away from rustys though. Everything I have ever bought from him has been garbage. Rubicon express is always a good option and is resonably priced. Rough country is good as well, but not as good as rubicon express imo. For things like coils and leaf springs it's all pretty much the same though.

I think their kits are worth the money. I ran em on both my TJ and XJ and no other kit compared to the ride quality and spring options OME provides. They offer four different rear springs and a unique AAL to supplement those springs if neccessary. They also have different front coils and shocks to choose from. If you want to modify your suspension to handling extra loads, aftermarket accessories, winches, etc and still ride like a dream then put the cash towards OME. If you want a taller lift with crazy articulation then check out other brands like RE, RC, BDS, etc.

i would not run OME kits, especially if they are from rockyroad outfitters. terrible shipping and the kits themselves are not worth what they are.
i would go with rough country or rubicon express

OME kits ride very nicely, much better than the RE kits that I've owned. Now, with that being said, alot of it has to do with the shocks, and the fact that they don't make tall lifts. I'd say to invest your money in a cheaper kit and get more bang for your buck. I couldn't see paying what they want for a smaller lift, when you know you'll end up at a taller lift in the future that'll cost the same as the small lift you got from OME.
Now, if you know you're going to keep the XJ lifted, but low then go with OME becasue it'll be worth the investment. For example, if I had the cash, I would've done the OME BB on my current XJ DD because I know I'm definitely not going to be going higher than 2" with it.

Been a while since I looked at their kits but I remember them being woefully incomplete.
No new control arms, no sway bar links, nothing to address trackbar, no new brake hoses, all for a very premium price.
If you are starting with a stock XJ a very important question is what isn't in a kit?
