I just need some input on backspacing thanks for the help
Most of us run 3.75", 4", and sometimes 4.25" backspacing. 4" has the rear lined up good with the fender flare and front sticking out about 1/2"-1".

3.75" has the tire sticking out past the fenders.

You can run 31's on stock wheels but you will rub on the control arms.

the 3 1/2 inch lift could i get away with running anythign bigger than a 31inch tire maybe something around a 32 or 33 inch and not have any problems or will there be rubbing or anything or do I have to mess with axels since they are stock? And how do you guys feel about getting retreaded tires like from treadwright.com?

You can run 32's with 3.5" lift but flexing will have the tires rubbing on the fenders. You'll have to modify your bumpstops so they stop the uptravel before the tire hits the fender. Axles don't need messed with unless you are running a dana 35 rear axle then it's advisable to upgrade to a Chrysler 8.25 (stock xj axle) or stronger axle.

Treadwright is a good place to get tires. I've heard alot of great feedback on them and their tires. Rarely do I hear of any issues. Check with your state laws and make sure they allow retread tires on front steering axles.

You should be ok but go easy on the skinny pedal. People break axle shafts with 31's and a heavy foot.

Either axle is a bolt in if it is out of an XJ

The drag link needs adjusted so your steering wheel is centered again. You also need an alignment unless you already had it done.

TJ Toe-in Alignment - 1

Basic Jeep Front End Alignment

Alignment

Those three websites show how to adjust the steering and alignment.

I agree. Sounds like an alignment is in order.

The steering wheel position is easy to correct. However that much correction might be tough. If you could post p-ics of the drag link that would help a lot.

No, you should correct it. It doesn't sound like much, but it will cause tire wear. If you have it aligned, then the technician will correct your steering wheel position if you remind him to do so for free.
