Here are some pics of what I made a while back. Got the wire shelf from the local Northern Tools store. I can carry all the tools and equiptment under the shelf and of course fishing stuff oName: 001.jpg

That was an AWESOME idea!

The only thing that has ever really peeved me about XJ's, is the lack of storage. There is literally no place to keep stuff from rolling around inside, besides under the back seat or inside the pockets of seat covers that i bought.

Thanks for posting!!!

Nice job! Do you typically drive around with that much stuff back there?

nice. how much did it cost you to do? i know someone makes a rack for back there (maybe olympic) but i would never pay what they were asking. Did you just screw it into the plastic wall or is it supported different? Because I would be curious how much weight it could hold up there.

I do carry all that gear at all times. You never know when you'll need something in an emergency. I got the wire rack from a local business that was getting ready to throw it out. It was from a display cage, I think. They gave it to me. 2 4x8 sheets, and I screwed the angles that it sets on into the plastis in quite a few places and I've had the cargo loaded to the roof with camping gear without any problems. It rattles a bit every now and then but I love the storage that I get from it.

I was given a metal box with a latch on it that i put 9 bolts with big washers under the heads and nuts and bolted it through the floor in the back of mine. I had to drop the gas tank though. I like it because it has a latch i can put a lock on. I still want to do something like you did but i will have to cut a hole through the middle of it so the box will be accessible...
