Installing a locker is basically the same procedure on any Jeep...What kind of a locker did he buy?

You'd need to lock the front and rear, not just one.

Now that I think about it, probably your best option. My buddy has an Aussie in his DubJay though, I'll ask him if it's any different.

You have a 93 ZJ AWD, or really full time 4x4. Fact, the 93's all had the Dana 35 in the rear and you have the 249 transfer case. I locked my old ZJ with the same 249 transfer case and rear. If you are wheeling 31's you will be fine . My son is still wheeling his ZJ dana 35 with 33" boggers.(Not recommended but can be done) I highly suggest going with an Aussie 1st or a Lock rite 2nd in the rear. I have used both in the ZJ. This rear lunch box locker option is your best bet because you can do it for under $300 bucks and you need no gear set as you would with the L.S , The carrier does not need to be removed for either locker. Not to mention no L.S can compare to a Locker off road
You can not lock the front unless you change to a 242 or 231 transfer case which you will probably wind up doing down the road due to the high Viscous coupler fail rate in the 249. but that swap is common , cheap, easy. then you can have the front and rear lock locked if you so desire to be like me.

I have also heard that lockers + 249 t-case is a disastrous combination. Swap out your t-case first then lock it up.

The best you can do with a 249 tcase is the Detroit True Trac. It is all wheel drive friendly and can be used front and rear without any other modifications. It is not a true lock up, but works very well in all situations except extreme rock crawling.
