I've seen similar problems from transmissions that have dirty fluid, filters and trans pan. The "crud" gets up into the flow body and after "X" amount of driving starts to clog passageways. Then after the vehicle sits for a while the "crud" eventually drains back down into the pan causing the problem to appear to go away, until it works it's way back up to the flow body again after more driving...
