Default 1995 grand cherokee overdrive problems

Over drive kicks off when you drive it for 35 to 40 minutes.Want go back on until you wait the next day and the car cools off.

Governor pressure regulator possible or an internal problem. Best thing to do is take it to a reputable trans shop (make sure they are a good one and do your research first if you haven't already) Those years are know for bad valvebodies.

There's also a temp sensor in the tranny that will cause this when it goes bad. A buddy of mine fought this for almost 2 months. If you do try to swap this yourself, make absolutely sure the parts store gives you the right temp sensor for your year. They gave my buddy the wrong sensor and it was a nightmare trying to figure out why it still wouldn't work.

I've seen similar problems from transmissions that have dirty fluid, filters and trans pan. The "crud" gets up into the flow body and after "X" amount of driving starts to clog passageways. Then after the vehicle sits for a while the "crud" eventually drains back down into the pan causing the problem to appear to go away, until it works it's way back up to the flow body again after more driving...
